Business Development Manager - Environmental Services


Southampton / Basic to c£50K plus bonus, pension, private healthcare, share scheme and flexible benefits package.

South Coast base with overseas travel.

The leading company in their field, our client is a successful, growing business providing specialist environmental expertise and unique services principally to customers in the oil and gas industries, and to local and national government. As the main point of contact for business development matters, you will be responsible for generating new business and additional growth from a well established customer base in the UK and overseas and for managing all stages of the sales process from initial discussions, the development of the solution and commercial proposal through to successful delivery of projects and services. Key responsibilities will include:

• Generating new and repeat business by initiating and responding to leads and maintaining close contact with the existing client base.
• Where required, together with colleagues, produce high quality, compelling proposals tailored to the client’s needs.
• Manage the sales process from initial contact through delivery and as the prime client contact, ensuring that contracts are delivered on time, to standard and budget.
• Ensure that client accounts are managed successfully, building and maintaining effective ongoing client support processes.
• Provide excellent customer service by handling enquiries effectively, responding promptly and following up rigorously.
• Represent the Company at conferences, seminars and exhibitions
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of latest industry developments and professionally related issues.

    • Build own professional and technical skills, actively seeking opportunities to extend personal knowledge and experience.
• Actively promote the Company’s services and enhance its profile by marketing available services to prospective customers.

The Person

• Graduate calibre
• A successful track record in sales/business development in a B2B service solutions environment – experience in the oil, gas, environmental, technical services, consultancy or similar fields would be an advantage.
• Adept at handling large accounts and dealing with senior level client contacts.
• Numerate with a good understanding of project financing and financial modelling.
• Experienced in putting together and costing successful, multi-faceted service/consultancy based proposals.
• The ability to consider issues from differing perspectives including strategic, operational and specific detail.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to adapt in a demanding and changing environment
• A lateral thinker with an aptitude for problem solving.
• Foreign language skills e.g. French an advantage but not essential.

As well as providing an international emergency response service to environmental incidents, they offer a range of consultancy services to their clients mostly operating in the oil industry, and are seeking to expand their team working in this field
