General/Operations Manager - Fire Testing/Research/Engineering - Ghent, Belgium - attractive salary, bonuses, benefits, and career options

ROLE - General/Operations Manager - reporting to the Divisional Operations Manager

The position covers all testing activities carried out by the Fire Testing Laboratory in Ghent and will focus on the following:

Implementing Strategic Management Board (SMB) Business strategies Taking primary responsibility for the conduct and programming of work undertaken by the laboratory, including the conduct of tests in accordance with the requirements of test specifications, and, where appropriate approved operating procedures, taking into account any relevant resolutions issued by EGOLF (European Group of Organisations for Fire Testing, Inspection and Certification) and the Fire Sector Group. Taking primary responsibility for the progressing of work from receipt of test specimens through to final invoicing via the visual control system of work in progress. Achieving and maintaining test and report delivery targets. Managing European project leaders and their teams including staff engaged in administrative duties within the department. Taking primary responsibility for the preparation of test reports in accordance with the requirements of the test specification and, where appropriate, the signing of such reports on behalf of the company. Ensuring Belgian legislation is satisfied Assisting in setting annual budgets specifically for the Fire Testing Laboratory. Achieving and maintaining high standards of Health and Safety. Implementing new investments. Achieving budget sales targets.

10 - Extensive experience as an Operations Manager in a B2B service sector, ideally testing/analysis 10 - Experience gained within a fire product/construction product manufacturer 10 Progressive experience in operations leadership, account management, and general manager (PandL roles) roles 10 - Ability to establish operational metrics and key indicators (KPIs) for process control, communication and performance improvement, and to drive continual improvement in each 10 - Ability to manage multiple, complex projects and changing priorities, make sound decisions and work effectively in a highly technical, team environment 10 - Well-developed interpersonal skills enabling teamwork and clear communication 9 - Engineering qualification, ideally in Electronics/Civil Engineering 10 - Good standard of written or oral communication in Dutch and English 10 - Personality - accountable, process-driven, compliant, multi-tasker, influential, results-focused 9 - Good balance of leadership (vision, values, standards, ethos), management (processes, systems, drumbeat), and coaching ( support, delegate, entrust, and enable)
