Our client's operations present an exciting opportunity for financial strategy and management in the rapidly growing renewables arena. Operations include consultancy, contracting and technology business streams with their varied financial characteristics. The synergies between these three renewable energy businesses are a key contributor to the group's growth to date.
A Group Finance Director is required to manage growth from a first equity investment to deliver significant step change in the business. You will ensure that the business of the group is conducted in accordance with the financial objectives set by the board and shareholders, that financial and legal risks are managed appropriately, controls are in place and operated and that the Group at all times meets the highest standards of corporate governance. You will sit on the board of each of the group's companies and, together with the Group Chief Executive and Chairman ensure that the usinesses fulfil their significant growth opportunities.
Reporting to: Group Chief Executive
Key tasks:
- To ensure that accurate management information is available to frequencies set by the Board. This includes as a minimum, monthly management accounts,
weekly key performance data, and 13 week rolling cash flow projections. To consolidate the results for the whole Group on a monthly basis.
- To ensure that the Group prepares detailed budgets and forecasts, and reports against the milestones set by these plans.
- To establish and maintain internal financial and reporting controls of the highest standard consistent with the demands of the business.
- To source the funding necessary to satisfy the group requirements in the most cost-effective and appropriate manner.
- To work closely with the senior management teams of the individual business units to ensure that each business unit is delivering to plan.
- To provide a financial analysis service to the individual business unit senior management teams.
- To chair monthly management meetings for each business unit.
- To provide reports, information and minutes of monthly Group Board meetings
- To manage the group finance team and oversee the systems, quality and delivery of finance teams in the business units.
- To manage any legal advice required for the group including external provision of company secretary services.
- To ensure that the Group Chief Executive and Chairman are properly briefed at all times on matters of financial significance to group activities
- To assess financial risks and ensure that the Board is fully appraised and to put in place appropriate measures to limit financial risk.
- To manage relationships with funders and bank and to ensure that all matters are conducted in accordance with agreements.
- To manage relationships with company professional advisors, particularly lawyers, financial advisors.
- To manage EMI share scheme in accordance with Dealing Day Rules, Articles of Association and Employee Share Ownership Trust.
- Manage relationships with tax and VAT authorities for UK and Irish businesses.
- To ensure the Group had adequate insurance in place and manage relationships with insurance brokers.
- To ensure all VAT, Intrastat, EC Sales Listings, PAYE, CIS and Corporation tax returns across the Group are prepared and submitted on time.
- To manage and take responsibility for provision of Group IT infrastructure, software and management information and manage staff and contractors.
- Develop measures and reporting of the group’s positive and negative impacts on climate change.
Candidate profile:
- Degree qualified with a recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) and recent "hands-on" group accounting experience.
- Extensive experience working within a commercial financial environment, able to operate effectively in a growth orientated group environment.
- Experience within a Construction and/or Technology based environment would be advantageous as would an interest/experience in the renewable energy sector.
- Experience of managing and developing IT based management information systems.
- Experience of Sage or other superior accounts systems.
- To be able to interpret produced financial information to maximum strategic effect, advising the group board and divisional MD's accordingly
