This is an excellent opportunity for a Group Financial Controller to join our client, a producer of metal and one of the largest smelting and refining companies in the world, in this critical position.
They are recruiting a Group Financial Controller to assist the CFO in managing the finance function, and promoting the ongoing growth of the business through valued input on potential acquisitions.
Key responsibilities: As a senior finance executives reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Group Financial Controller is expected to:
- Provide leadership and expertise to the Company in the development of accounting policies, practices and financial reporting with responsibility for internal, external, and statutory and government reporting to ensure that the Company, via the Board, is fully informed of its financial performance and meets its statutory and listing reporting obligations.
- Direct and leads financial planning and analysis in the review and analysis of actual performance, group plans and budget, business and capital proposals, highlighting opportunities and recommending actions to improve group performance.
- Undertake specific strategic review of company activities and directions to support Executive Management decision- making.
Key Accountabilities
• Devise and implement a programme of financial controls and processes to enhance overall financial discipline throughout the group
• Ensure the timely preparation, consolidation and reporting of monthly accounts of various group companies
• Manage the budgeting and planning process
• Capital planning input and approvals
• Monitor Group wide plan to actual on a monthly basis.
• Prepare half-yearly and annual corporate reporting.
• Contribute to the preparation of the short and long term business economic and industry outlook, used to assess potential implications on the planning and budget process.
• Maintain a rigorous control across the group of all corporate governance and reporting procedures.
• Plan and monitor internal and external audit activity by recommending programs to the board committee; negotiate with external providers to establish areas of focus and reporting resulting performance to the board.
• Board reporting, performance analysis & re-forecasting.
• Build effective relationships with key group executives and site-based management teams to ensure accurate and timely information flow within the group
• Develop and educate the accounting community to provide financial strength across the group
• Contribute to the provision of a safe and healthy workplace
The successful candidate will have a:
• Degree qualified
• CA/CPA Qualification
• Thorough understanding of IFRS and solid experience its practical application
• Broad awareness of other (Belgian and Dutch) national accounting policies would be beneficial
• Minimum 10 years experience in a similar role
• Multi-national experience necessary
• Ideally from within the Resources, Industrial of Manufacturing sector
• Multi-lingual (English, Dutch) desirable Preparation of Group management
