An expanding property technology company operating in the data centre and business recovery sector is seeking a Clients Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager to support their construction programme.
Due to the expansion of its property and Data Centre portfolio the company is now seeking a motivated, energetic quantity surveyor for complex, leading edge projects on a number of sites. The company has developed unique solutions which are already beginning to set new standards in the market and rapid growth is expected. The company is an end user operator of these facilities for their Customers.

Title Clients Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager Role The Client is an end-operator provider of data centre space and business recovery solutions. The position will be based in a central London location with a visiting role to sites.
The Client is seeking to augment its internal quantity surveying function. The role involves working in the Clients project delivery team comprising project managers, services engineers, sales and the like, to provide full turn key quantity surveying support. This involves initial estimating / budget forecasting, cost plan management, consultant and contractor selection, preliminaries drafting, tendering, contractor negotiation, valuations, variation control, cost reporting, final accounting and the like. Additionally, all the financial management functions normally carried out in an end operator business including internal Purchase Order management, cash flow, accountancy support, and the like.
The Client frequently receives requests from customers for full commercial proposals relating to specified development requirements. The Candidate will be asked to support the bid response team in providing costs and commercial review of bid documents.
The successful Quantity Surveyor will likely have several years experience in running construction projects, ideally those with a very complex services content. Examples include data centres, switch centres, substantial comms rooms, power stations, and other highly-serviced buildings. This specialised experience is not mandatory; candidates with all-round commercial experience will not be excluded.
Ideally degree qualified in Quantity Surveying with 5 years PQE experience. Other training history also considered.
MRICS or FRICS preferred, but not mandated for candidates who do not hold such qualifications.
Likely to be working in an environment where front end activities such as project estimating and cost planning are routinely carried out.
Able to provide all the quantity surveying input necessary to run construction contracts of £10m-30m, possibly where external quantity surveying firms are not appointed.
Adept at EXCEL, WORD, and preferably MS Project.
Quantity Surveyor able to work autonomously and under pressure.
Understand the cost of construction.
Eye for detail. Good record keeper.
Ability to work with, and command the respect of, external professionals and other third parties including customers.
