Regional Director - Ecclesiastical Insurance - Birmingham/Gloucester

As an award winning and innovative insurance company, Ecclesiastical is a well regarded force in the UK underwriting market.  Perhaps best known for insuring churches, the company has a well defined niche in each of the education, heritage buildings, care home and charity sectors, as well as a profitable and growing commercial account.

In recent years an upgraded credit rating from S&P, the arrival of a new Chief Executive and a successful re-branding exercise have all contributed to Ecclesiastical’s continuing development.  To give brokers access to a higher level of expertise at a local level as well as enhancing the company’s well deserved reputation for service excellence Ecclesiastical has decided to focus its UK operations in three large Regional Underwriting Centres. This move also highlights an increased emphasis on sales and has thrown up the need to recruit at Regional Director level.

The Challenge

• To develop business for Ecclesiastical;

• To enhance the reputation of the Ecclesiastical brand through a highly visible regional market presence;

• To Lead a proven team of Development Managers and Development Underwriters in building commercially successful relationships with new and existing insurance brokers in the region;

• To collaborate with other Group functions to optimise business performance in areas such as strategic planning and the implementation of company strategy;

• To manage and motivate the office based underwriting staff to provide exceptional and prompt service.

The Candidate

• Strong business development experience and strategic marketing and planning skills;

• Commercially astute with exposure to underwriting, claims, and administration functions and the communication skills to exchange information, ideas and concepts with colleagues at all levels;

• Motivated and personable with the well developed interpersonal skills necessary to lead and motivate an effective team of professionals;

• Results orientated personality with the determination to drive standards and achieve within a culture that commits to being proactive, honest, expert, enthusiastic and fair;

• A graduate calibre ACII or FCII.
