Our client, a North East England NHS Hospital Trust, is seeking to recruit a Research and Development Manager, reporting on a temporary basis to the Director of Clinical Governance at the Trust.
This is a new post incorporating the Trust`s Research and Development (RandD) Management role, and a Comprehensive Local Research Network (CLRN) Research Management and Governance (RMandG) role within the Trust. The postholder will promote and facilitate the delivery of high quality RandD activity across the Trust, the maintenance of Research Governance standards, compliance with other statutory obligations and the delivery of the Trust`s RandD reporting requirements to the Department of Health.
Key responsibilities of the role are:
- To manage the Trust RandD department.
- To provide research management support for CRN Portfolio studies at the Trust.
- To play a key role in determining and implementing future research strategy in the Trust and assisting in income generation via the new funding streams.
- To provide administrative management of research activities within the Trust.
- To encourage and support clinical effectiveness and innovation, working with clinicians to develop research questions and show how research and innovation can be translated into good clinical practice.
The successful applicant will have:
- Clear understanding of research methodology.
- Awareness and understanding of Research Governance and requirements of EU Clinical Trials Directive.
- Experience of working within a research management and governance environment.
- Experience of clinical or NHS research management to include experience in the approval and set up of clinical research studies.
