1) Geographic expansion to new markets and 2) Innovation in existing markets.
The Global Supply Chain Director has direct reports of 5 technical contract managers and 2 QA team, all of which are fully dedicated (aligned) resources to the Joint Venture. Given the nature of the business, there are many interfaces which need to be managed by the job holder, the key ones being the management team and Regional Directors, Co-packers and the product and packaging development teams.
In addition to leading the implementation of innovations into the supply chain, the role also defines manufacturing standards and safeguards , as per the Joint Venture agreement, through application of due diligence to all launches and ongoing Quality Assurance and audit programs.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Drive innovations into the supply chain system through technical and SC knowledge and expertise.
2. Define, update and implement globally QA standards.
3. Provide Supply Chain input into all projects at briefing stage, identifying opportunities, threats, constraints and workload to senior management prior to project approval.
4. Protect the Ready To Drink Brand through application of due diligence in all launches.
5. Leverage non-carbonated beverage portfolio and technologies to drive RTD brand, using existing technologies/systems.
6. Define the global operating framework to ensure that it has the right people in the right place at the right time.
7. Provide technical expertise across a range of products, processes and business systems i.e.. from tunnel pasteurisation to aseptic to powdermix.
8. Lead a team of 5 RTD technical managers (4xUK,1xParis) and the RTD QA team (2xUK). This will require a thorough understanding of all the areas below: - Approve all manufacturing facilities - Define manufacturing standards - Issue of all product/process documentation - Provide technical expertise to co-packers and bottlers - Trouble shooting - Support innovation implementation - Conduct annual technical visit - Provide training as appropriate (This is across an existing (and expanding) portfolio of approximately 100 manufacturing sites) - Maintain the global quality standards for manufacture through auditing, trade monitoring and complaint/incident management.
9. Responsible for the global Ready To Drink trade sampling program.
10. Input to and lead concentrate sourcing studies and cost optimisation programs.
Skills and Experience:
· Degree in Science or Engineering preferred.
· Previous experience working for a global or European organisation preferred.
· Understanding of manufacturing technologies for RTD across all pack formats and process options including neutral and milk products as well as traditional lower pH products.
· Be knowledgeable in tea powder, concentrate and fresh-brewing manufacturing.
· Know key principles of product microbiology.
· Experienced quality assurance auditor.
· Understanding of beverage business models - co-pack versus franchise.
· Understanding of financial construct of LIT business and the overall value chain.
Key Competencies:
· Ability to work in a very fast moving and challenging environment with rapidly changing goals and priorities.
· Ability to effectively deal with 3rd party manufacturing sites across the globe.
· Must take into account local working practices and cultural differences.
· Flexibility on individual projects and also ability to prioritise the activities of TCM's and QA team.
· Ability to manage as many as 50-100 projects at any one time via the TCM's and QA team.
· Have a passion to grow the RTD business.
· Pro-active approach, problems solver with can-do attitude.
