Overview:-

We currently have an opportunity for a Commodity Buyer. This is a key strategic role and its purpose is to support the business in achieving productivity targets and developing its suppliers to 'Best in Class'. This will include cost reduction activities and supplier management.

Key Responsibilities:-

* Generate and implement appropriate Sourcing Strategies.

* Analyse demand, markets and suppliers to create a basis for deciding on the optimum sourcing strategies, including utilisation of Low Cost Countries.

* Conduct price and contract negotiations.

* Undertake supplier management in order to obtain the best suppliers and ensure an optimum supply chain.

* Define concepts for risk and contract management to avoid risks and warranty costs.

* Maintain regular contact with internal/external interface partners in order to recognise developments (markets, demand etc) and exert appropriate influence.

* The will be some international travel involved with this role.

Key Skills:-

* The successful applicant will have previous 'direct' procurement experience of new product sourcing. * A manufacturing background is essential. * Ability to demonstrate project management skills. * MCIPS qualification is desirable. * Excellent negotiator, capable of succeeding in difficult situations. * Effective communicator with peers and people of different levels. * Ability to make decisions.
