Electrical Engineer (Estates Management)


South East England / £185-215 per day

An outstanding opportunity has arisen to work as an Interim Assistant Estates Manager within Electrical Services at a large University in the South East. Based in Kent and accountable to the Deputy Estates Manager, you will be responsible for managing electrical maintenance, minor works projects and have input to capital schemes in liaison with other Estates team members.
• Main Responsibilities:
Essential Skills/Qualification
• Have a good working knowledge of installation electrical services, IEE Regulations, relevant health and safety and electrical legislation and standards. Commissioning of new developments.
• Degree in relevant Electrical discipline and working toward professional status and ideally membership of a professional institute, CIBSE or IET
• Have current clean driving license and own a road-worthy car that must be available for use on University business
Key Responsibilities

    • To participate in the relevant project teams and commissioning programmes for new developments to ensure successful delivery of capital projects.
• To be the key lead person for electrical infrastructure input to reviews of services across the campus network.
• Ensure electrical plant, equipment and associated systems are maintained and developed to a high standard in compliance with statutory requirements in a cost effective manner, ensuring best practice.
• Review and update electrical services condition appraisals to advice on condition of Estate.
• To liaise with professional colleagues as necessary including academic, external consultants, internal sport departments e.g. IT services and other facilities services department colleagues.
• Keep and maintain accurate records of the University’s electrical infrastructure.
• Day to day management of Facilities Supervisor.
• Provide routine advice and support for the effective completion of maintenance works undertaken by the Organisation’s direct labour organisation electricians.
