An exceptional opportunity for an outstanding Sales Manager / Director to move into the hugely rewarding education ICT sector in a profitable, market leading and highly respected company with significant growth plans.


SpaceKraft (54-staff / £4.9m revenues) provides Special Educational Needs products and bespoke multi sensory technology solutions predominantly to the education sector, but also to NHS, charities and care homes across the UK and export markets. The company was recently acquired by RM Group (UK’s ‘Top IT Employer and 2200 staff worldwide) yet still operates as an independent subsidiary.


The purpose of this newly created role is to help double revenues in the next 3 years by introducing a more proactive sales approach, developing customer relationships at a more strategic level, taking advantage of significant Government education transformation programmes such as ‘Building Schools for the Future’, exploring other previously untapped opportunities particularly in education and elderly care and expanding more fully into Europe through distributor partners.


Reporting to the MD, this role sits on the business leadership team and you should expect to be very actively involved in broader elements such as business strategy and product & market opportunity development. This represents a unique chance to work in a commercially dynamic and highly worthy company at a time of progressive change and growth.


Key Responsibilities
• Sales strategy: Devise appropriate and successful strategies that will continue to ensure market leadership
• Sales planning & order intake: Develop accurate sales forecasts and ensure that quality leads are generated and ultimately converted into orders
• Sales target delivery & reporting: Deliver the agreed business plan sales revenue and margin targets and regularly report on progress

    • People and culture: Provide exceptional leadership and vision to a team of 4 in the UK (3 x field sales and 1 x export and trade), managing the cultural change to a more proactive sales approach and operating at a more strategic level
• Business development: By developing a close understanding of customer needs and working with the leadership of SpaceKraft and other RM Group companies, help identify, develop and maximise new market opportunities
• Customer engagement & market awareness: Meet with and influence senior individuals from various customer, partner and other stakeholder groups. Maintain a sound and up to date awareness of markets pertinent to Special Educational Needs
The Individual
• Of graduate calibre with a solid background in sales & sales /commercial management and a particularly strong track record of delivering business growth
• High intellectual capability, considerable drive, energy and entrepreneurial spirit - able to quickly identify, create and exploit market opportunities
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and a positive outlook. High integrity, open, inclusive and collaborative style, inspirational leader and the gravitas to influence at all levels
• Previous experience of selling into the public sector / education could be beneficial but isn’t essential
