Head of Technical Services - Glasgow, Scotland - Excellent Salary, Bonus and Benefits

CLIENT - This organisation is an integral part of one of the world`s top 5 energy companies, and the world`s biggest producer of renewable energy. While they boast a strong Scottish heritage, they are now part of an international group operating across Europe, Asia, USA and Latin America.

ROLE - As 'Head of Technical Services` you will be joining a settled, experienced and highly motivated team of people who are extremely focused on their business, and very good at what they do. You will be responsible for a team of up to 30 engineers providing multi-disciplinary technical and engineering support to all aspects of the business. You will report to the Operations Director, however your wide ranging remit will provide the opportunity to become involved with all areas of the organisation.

In addition to your technical knowledge, your ability to communicate, motivate, manage and above all lead your team will be vital to your success in this role.

PERSON SPEC - higher weighting more important:-

   

*10 - Proven experience of establishing and/or leading a Technical Services support function working on large scale build projects, allied to demonstrable experience within Project / Operational management environments, (ideally in commercially focused utility, service and /or construction business) *10 - Background in either Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, but with a wide breadth of engineering knowledge beyond own core discipline (degree preferred) *10 - Experience in commercial negotiations, with detailed understanding of technical due diligence *10 - Excellent people manager and motivator with sound relationship management skills, confident working at all levels from Executive Team down throughout all grades and backgrounds and with great oral and written communication skills *10 - Personality - dynamic, accountable, innovative, creative, assertive, influencing, communicative, resilient, energetic and driven *9 - Knowledge of Health, Safety (NEBOSH preferred), Environmental legislation, Planning and Consenting phases of projects *9 - IT literate on database applications *9 - Ability to work to tight deadlines, within a highly pressured environment and with proven competence in solving technically challenging problems. *8 - Knowledge of electricity generation and energy trading businesses would be an advantage *8 - Excellent personal organisation and time management skills *9 - Ability to identify and source external resources and skills to appropriate project delivery requirements *8 - Business management qualification advantageous *8 - High capacity for change and experience of leading others through change
