PGC's client is a long established and well regarded dealership network for premium brands in big-ticket capex. With a number of sales and service centres across the South East of England they have developed an enviable reputation for excellence in their chosen markets.
The company now wishes to understand, address and fulfil a much wider spectrum of customer needs. With an eye to the future and a good feel for current market trends, the company would like to identify a new Managing Director to lead the business into, through and beyond its transition from a first-class distributor to a first-class value-add solutions provider with an even greater emphasis on customer service.
The existing sales function is respected and effective so whilst resetting the company strategy the new Managing Director will also need to maintain, reinforce and build upon excellent relationships to deliver the desired results. Further improvements may be possible, but the company is already efficient having adopted lean principles and with tight cost controls, so the emphasis will be on formulating a strategy that identifies and realises opportunities for revenue growth.
This challenging role will require an experienced business leader with an instinctive feel for marketing-led sales and services, but who need not necessarily have a sales background themselves.
Candidate requirements:
Ability to develop a vision and strategy
Business planning coupled with the skills to review, monitor and adjust
Marketing flair with natural understanding of offering and brand
Excellent communication skills to create goodwill and buy-in
A direct approach with people and to problems
Understanding of change processes and organisational design
Commercially minded with a strong grasp on the fundamentals of finance
Open and willing to share his/her ideas and thoughts with colleagues
Graduate-calibre, preferably with a business related professional qualification (MBA ideal)
